| MORE tort reform coming to Texas |
|
This isn't good. It is not about being fair in the courtroom.
Loser pays. If you file a suit and you lose after all of the legal manuevering and loopholes, then you get to pay the legal costs for BOTH parties. They predict 85% of all civil suits would not even be filed. This is so bad that the insurance companies that provide lawsuit insurance are against it, because no one will need lawsuit insurance.
Limited discovery This will limit the time you have for discovery. So if the company you are suing can just hold out, you will never get the truth.
The vast majority of the people of Texas will NEVER need the use of an attorney, but our Constitution gives us the right to a civil trial IF we need it. They will essentially take this right away from us.

| 1. Apparently, they're angling to get some more shootings in tall |

corporate buildings. I don't see any other imaginable outcome.
And no, I don't even own a gun.

| 2. Oh. I have said that very thing at hearings in Texas |
|
Seriously. When you have no other way to get justice, someone is going to pull out a gun, or a plane, or a Uhaul and some corporation is going to get hurt.
