| Anything official about the TDP Chair race? |
|
Since Boyd Richie isn't going to be the chair anymore, has anyone sought to replace him yet? Will there be any real race or will only one person seek the job? It would be cool if we got a choice and got to learn who candidates are before they become our chair.

| 1. I was at a meeting recently & 3 people said they were running |
|
2 were from the Valley. Looks like those of us planning to go to the 2012 Convention will need to make reservations for Saturday night too. The last floor fight in 2006 lasted long after dark.

That was how certain folks won. Folks from the Valley had to hit the road. Glad to to see Valley people running this time. Who has put their hat in the ring?

| 3. I can't remember their names offhand |

I think one of them was party chair before ??? and, if I heard correctly, Richard Raymond announced he would run as well. That doesn't sound right to me, because he'd have to step down as state rep.

I googled all three, but so far only Acevedo has anything pertaining to the race for the Chair. http://www.fidelacevedo.com/Issues.html

| 7. Richie maintained his law practice in Graham |

There's staff in Austin to manage the HQ, what little needs to be done. Most of the work is telephoning and e-mailing and working on one's computer, which can be done remotely.
Being a state rep is hardly a full-time job (180 days every two years) and Raymond is an attorney, though I don't know the nature of his practice. Without specifically knowing whether a legislator is prevented from serving as party chair, I would say yes, he could serve as both.
