| 1. I'd like to see his role in Abu Ghraib fleshed out in public a little more first. |

Apparently he hated Paul Bremer when they were both in Iraq. That speaks well of General Sanchez. OTOH, their mutual self loathing kept them from working together, which in turn hampered efficiency in the mission there. In practical terms, hampering the efficiency of a military operation means getting people killed who didn't need to be killed. It might well have meant that the oversight at Abu Ghraib got muddled, leading to the single biggest scandal to the US military since My Lai.
In American history, military officers tend to make moderate, responsible leaders once they're elected. It's a career path that stresses humanistic values (for most) and a focus on pragmatic solutions. But there's a big cloud over this one. I'm grateful for Sanchez's service, but I'm not in a hurry to see him nominated.

| 4. TM interview interesting |

I don't think we stand a chance, so many big media markets take big $$ After White's disappointing result, voter suppression legislation and the Hispanic vote no showing up yet, I think it's going to be 10 years for a statewide win
