Push poll calls coming from Virginia
Edited on Tue Jul-01-08 12:25 PM by proud2Blib
The campaign for our county district attorney in Johnson County, Kansas is making push poll calls from a number in Fairfax County Virginia. It's a land line in Herndon, VA. Unlisted number.

The caller asks which of two Republican candidates you will vote for. If you give the wrong name, they proceed to trash the candidate.

The really dumb thing is Democrats are getting these calls. In Kansas, you have to register and declare party affiliation to vote in that party's primary. So Democrats won't be voting in the primary this call is referencing.

In case you think this is no big deal, this is our former state AG Phill Kline who was beat in 06 by a Democrat. He then was appointed by our local Republican party to be our county DA. He is a fruitloop anti-choice zealot who has spent the 18 months he has been our DA going after our local Planned Parenthood clinic. Here is a local TV hit piece on Phill.

As state AG, he went on Bill O'Reilly's show several times and Bill has claimed on the air that Phill shared private medical records with him. (The records supposedly prove Phill's claim that abortions of underrage teens are performed by Kansas abortion providers. But several rounds in court have all ended with judges dropping charges against abortion providers.)

Anyway I was wondering if any VA DUers could figure out where these calls are coming from. Is this a national call center or a pro-life person helping out this local campaign? Or maybe even a church?

I have the number and will gladly share it if you PM me. It's a 703 area code.

Thanks!

1. Push Poll Calls

A little while ago, I got a call purporting to be a survey that was actually a push poll. It's possible it's the same outfit. The caller identified herself as being with McLaughlin and Associates, which is a Republican-oriented polling company. However, their Virginia office is in Alexandria, not Herndon, so it may be another outfit or perhaps their calling center is out there - I don't know.

There were three questions about the congressional candidates in my district and three of the "questions" were obviously designed to promote the Republican and denigrate the Democrat? e.g., Would you be more or less likely to vote for Gerry Connolly if you knew he had voted to reduce the number of police officers assigned to monitor sex offenders?

If they call again, ask for the name of the company conducting the poll. They may legally be required to provide that to you.

There is another outfit that may be doing push-poll calling from Herndon: ccAdvertising. Take a look at:
