i'm never surprised at the ability of Seattle Sports teams to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory, but this one...
why the F would baseball players/managers NOT want to live & work in the PNW, to the point where they'd quit in the middle of a season? because our marine air makes it harder to hit home runs? because the plane flights are 2 hours longer?
let's review:
Pinella left, wants to be in Tampa. Left Tampa for Chicago. Seattle was ready to name him Coach for Life. Griffey left, wants to be in Cincy, and Fla. in the off-season. Seattle was ready to make him the richest man in baseball (good thing they didn't). Hargrove left, wants to be in CLEVELAND?
personally, i left the midwest (cincy specifically) for seattle in 1991 & haven't regretted it for a second. HUMIDITY SUCKS!

It a difficult equation ,I have been looking at it for some time now, as of yet the equation is not finished and will not be until it is.
There is a certain something that seems to foil the game of baseball here in Seattle. Now I don,t know, but, there is a rumor that the the old minor home town ball players many of whom were major leauge material that refused to step up in the major leauges bcause things were just too good here in Seattle, and the pay was tops, in some cases more than the major leauges, and as it is, or so the rumor goes, this situation came with a bit of a curse of a sort, and so you it may be the sort of thing that we must and will now mind you ,overcome if you will.
Now I have not as of yet factored into the equation the parapsychological numeral factor, because as it is ,it remains in the x factor minus. Which means there is no proof that it is there ,if it is there! However if it is, I will find it,of that I am sure!
Just to be on the safe side ,I have not mentioned this mysterious team by name!
Not that I believe rumors or anything like that!

But Billy Martin let it be known (during one of the times he was on the outs with the Yankees) that he would not come to Seattle because you can't get a beer in the topless joints here. The scary thing is that actually makes more sense than a lot of things that have happened in the sports scene here.

Rick Manning -ball player out the seventys-cleveland, ended up his career with the Brewers.I think he,s sports announcing back in Cleveland .A guy that grew up in two places- The Buffalo Niagara region in New York and Cleveland Ohio. Drafted out of high school class 72.
The Seattle Pilots, Short lived -Seattle first major leauge ball team-It ah, just didn,t get anywhere.
Arragross- Early Mariners , The sourthern California plague of doom that got dumped on us by the very rich in California -that just could not stand him and would not tolerate him.
Since they in California offed the rich guy-he bought the Mariners. Came here to Seattle to play his evil games and thus we were hit up with a doubble curse.
Every game in those days was a doubble header, man oh man you talk about Doubbleday -who by the by was one of those nineteenth century occultist.
Pay no mind to those that know not baseball.
It,s a contemplative sport -real fans know baseball history.
When you talk about that-the curse-, well Max-it,s a down home kind of a thing here.
We don,t know what is is, but we do know that is must be some kind of a curse.,that shall be over come.
I know my way around this town-the whole town. And we talk about things, the kind of things people in the know talk about- who cares Max what they don,t know or know of?

Are we serious? You bet we are. We were there when people could not bear to watch any more losses. We were there when they gathered the courage in strength of mind and spirit to come to a game reguardless to the poor numbers -we were there to greet them.!
That,s our team win or loss.
And we are still there.

Take a look at the college addition of in search of the odds-sports edition! you may be surprised!
Or ask of yourself where does the numeral values of odds begin and end!And from there at what point?
It will always come down to the unforeseen.Circumstances and events to happen-in that what can happen will happen -Murphys law.
Doubbleday the inventor of baseball was was amoung oher things a spiritulist. In that he believed in communicating with the dead! Or that it is posible. When you look at the game of baseball mathmaticlly ,odds come into the equation-of this Doubbleday was acutely aware. As does the defiance of odds. This too was carefully factored into the rules of the game.-Hence-anyhing can happen.
And what did happen can also happen again at the same time in the same place or someplace different. Ah, but Doubblday! You almost must look into the inner workings of a fine watch in motion -not the electronic watch mind you now! But a main spring working time pice! And realize the precision accuracy -and than apriciate accuracy in and of itself!
Where than does doubbledays equations of the game of baseball factor in phenomenal- the super aspect- the super feat? The unbelivable catch or hit?! My oh my!
Ya well ! the old occultist did indeed figure all that in to the rules of play! In fact created rules of play to insure that one supper act brings apon another- just like clock work! What did happen can also happen again! Indeed, indeed in doubbledeed! The almost unbelieveable come from behind to gain the lead-and than the fall back behind! All of which was factored into the game to begin with! In every detail. And odds such as odds are!
However it was the defience of odds that fasicinated Doubbleday the most! And the rules of the game are tennative to that very fascination! It,s not all about odds though odds are. Therefore odds simply are and are not necessarily valid ,although odds may be -but only to a certain extent-and again hence-anything can happen in the moment!
Am I serious? Oh ya, you bet!

Curses in baseball I understand -- everyone knows that Ruth supposedly cursed the Red Sox for trading him to the Yankees way back when. You lost me when you started talking about parapsychology and numbers. I had no idea of what you were talking about. Thanks for sharing a little about Abner Doubleday.
Now that you have shared your theory about baseball in Seattle, do you have any theories about why the New York Yankees have been the most successful professional sports franchise?
