| Primary is Tuesday, Aug. 19. DON'T FORGET! |
|
The primary has been moved up a month, and from now on will take place on the third Tuesday of AUGUST, not September as in the past (Eridani, I expect that is the real reason why early returns of primary ballots has been so low: a lot of people are used to waiting until after Labor Day.)
Also, tomorrow marks the debut of the new "top two" primary, where the top two vote-getters in each partisan race will advance to the General Election regardless of party or how many votes they get. This is different from how non-partisan races such as judgeships work: in those races, if a candidate receives a majority of the vote, they automatically win the race. The new system makes your vote in the primary all the more important.
DON'T FORGET to have your ballots postmarked before midnight of Tuesday, August 19. King County residents can still stop into a polling place; if that is your preference, remember to show up and vote!
