Hi everyone, My wife and I are planning on moving out there early next year. We are in our mid 50’s, no kids and lifelong renters (sorry, no rich Californians here). We’ve visited Bellingham a couple of times and really fell in love with it. One of the things we like is that even though the population of the town is 70,000 it really has the feel of a town much smaller. Our original plan was to move somewhere along the Oregon coast, but as we’re not quite ready to retire, we will need to find jobs. Costal towns in Oregon just aren’t large enough to support a lot of work. Bellingham seems to have that covered. A good hospital is always nice to have around, too. Being from Oregon originally, I’m used to rain and clouds so nothing to worry about there. Anyway, I just wanted to come on the forum and say hi to everyone! If you see a U-Haul truck pulling in next spring, wave and we will wave back! dumpbush

My wife works at the local hospital here and affordable health care has been one of our hopes for a long time. Once we get out there we will find them and see if they can use a couple of part-time volunteers! dumpbush

Thanks for the good words on Bellingham! There are several reasons for the move, but one of them is for the clean air out there. My wife suffers from asthma and allergies, and here in the Midwest ragweed season is horrible for her. So hopefully the move will help her. I know there is mold out there, but she's not as susceptible to that as she is all the crap in the air out here. Then we have the particulates from coal-fired generating plants and several ozone alerts each year. Bad news for all breathing things but more so for someone with respiratory problems. Looking forward to this move! dumpbush
