Seattle Times writer Mark Rahner reports that:
Bremerton mayor Cary Bozeman says that the Seattle waterfront is, "an insult to American ingenuity,".
Mayor Bozeman goes on to say that Bremerton has spent millions in fixing up their waterfront. Brought in new condos and a hotel and nice restaurant.

What the Mayor didn't say is that behind the water fountains and new condos are empty store fronts. Also, the new condos weren't selling (months before the housing bubble burst) and had to be auctioned off at a fraction of their worth.
And by the way Bremerton is the home of the brand new Norm Dicks tunnel to nowhere. Originally to be funded by a $28 million dollar earmark the tunnel to allow ferry auto traffic to by pass the important new condos, is almost complete, coming in at about twice the original estimate. Many local residents didn't see that the tunnel to nowhere did anyone any good other than the condo owners. Residents have for years complained about the deteriorating Manette Bridge, but apparently the tunnel was more important.
