| "Classic" KING-FM airs anti-gay-rights ("No on 71") ads... |
|
Specifically, "Harry and Louise"-style spots on how -- get this -- we need to reject protection of domestic partnerships to "send a message" to the legislature to concentrate on "real problems" like unemployment instead of wasting their time "adding extra rights" for domestic partners.
Now, KING prefaces the ads with a blurb about how they "don't necessarily reflect" the views of KING-FM. Nonetheless:
a) they are airing them, and hence helping to spread the message of the anti-gay fundies,
b) I sure haven't heard any spots for the other side aired on KING, and
c) isn't there something shameful about a foundation co-owned by the symphony, opera, and ballet lending their voice to a movement to strip domestic partnership protection?
Does the term "blood money" ring a bell? :grr:

| 1. The shameful part is probably more like |
|
KING-FM needing the ad money due to a lack of funding.

| 2. On the contrary, they've got plenty of funding... |
|
...since they have a hefty endowment through the Bullitt Foundation.
