November 7, 2009
Congressman Brian Baird U.S. House of Representatives 2350 Rayburn House Office Building Washington, D.C. 20515
Dear Congressman Baird:
My husband and I were among your first Labor supporters when you ran for your first term in Congress. Although we have never lived in your district, we have always followed your career. Six years ago my husband retired from his position as a business representative of the Teamsters Union. In 2006 I retired as the executive director of a small nonprofit in Tacoma.
We both lobbied for healthcare reform for many years. I tried to leave telephone messages for you at your Olympia office and in Washington, D.C. Your voicemail boxes are full. I hope others were able to tell you how disappointed they are in the stand you have taken on HR 3962. “Disappointed” doesn’t begin to express how I feel. I trust the “prominent economists”. I don’t need and think you are hiding behind CBO scoring.
This vote isn’t premature. It is decades overdue. If you can’t see that, then you aren’t the visionary I once thought you were.
Sincerely,
Mary W. Plante
