Pierce County Deputy Mundell died at 5:04 pm Monday Dec 28th

Deputy Walter Kent Mundell, Jr. died this evening at Harborview at 5:04 pm just about an hour after he was withdrawn from life support. Deputy Mundell's condition had not improved in the week since he was shot and his family made the difficult choice to remove him from life support.

Time and place of his memorial are not yet confirmed but KING 5 reported that Tuesday, Jan 5th has been suggested and the likely venue is the Tacoma Dome.

2. Police will escort Officer Mundell's body during transport from

the King County ME's office to Mountain View Funeral Home in Lakewood. For those in Pierce County wishing to line the route, the motorcade will take the 74th St exit from I-5, travel west on 74th to South Tacoma Way, south on South Tacoma Way to Steilacoom Blvd. and west on Steilacoom Blvd. to Mountain View. They will leave Seattle at 2:00 pm.
