| Gov. Albert Rosellini will be 100 on Thursday. Washington |
|
governors gathered today to celebrate the oldest living governor's birth. Rosellini and Gary Locke share a birthday. Locke will turn 50 when Rosellini celebrates the century mark.
Rosellini was born in Tacoma on January 21, 1920. He studied law at the University of Washington and entered the Washington State Senate in 1938. He was the prime sponsor of the bill that established Washington's first minimum wage law. His first term as governor (1956-60) was one of the most progressive and productive in state history. He created the state's juvenile justice system and modernized the state's mental health system. He pushed the construction of the Evergreen Floating Bridge which was renamed in his honor in 1988.

How can he be 100? They must have the birth year wrong.
I was a kid when Rosselini was governor, but my mother thought he was a crook and voted for Dan Evans, even though she was a Democrat.

I'm good for that. I don't dare hit the post message button until I look everything over. You must have just hit the 2 key instead of the 1 by accident. Everyone does things like that, I think.
