A different voice emerges on the Free Republic website. On Aug. 10, 2010, Boyer identifies himself on the Free Republic as a member with the user name “Baynative,” and he asks fellow Free Republic members to stuff an electronic ballot box at the Peninsula Daily News to sway a reader poll in his favor – a practice Free Republic adherents call “FReeping.”

Port Townsend residents also enter Boyer’s crosshairs. In a message to Free Republic user “Seadog Bytes” on Nov. 28, 2007, Boyer writes, “Port Townsend is populated by those types who are migrating there from all over. Most of the town is welfare or trustafarians. They have spent countless hours in the council on motions to impeach the president, global warming proclamations, writing letters to the navy telling them to leave the nearby base, etc. They make Berkeley and Santa Cruz together look like beginners.”
