Want to be a hospital board member?

Hello!

Now that we’re past the craziness of election season, it seems a good time to reconnect with you regarding my networking to find a few good candidates to potentially run for Public Hospital District 1, Board of Commissioners (AKA Valley Medical Center) in 2011. This is a very part-time advisory role (two meetings per month) with a term of 6 years. Ideal potential candidates would:

1. Live in Renton/Newcastle (or be willing to move within the sub-district), and will not be an employee of the hospital district.

2. Support worker/patient values as well as the integrity of the public hospital district (be against future moves to privatize),

3. Offer some relatable experience. This could be activism around healthcare access issues, medical administration/service, or political/non-profit service background that would make sense to voters.

If you don’t happen to have a person that immediately comes to mind, perhaps you could refer me to individuals within organizations that work on these issues in South King County?
