1. That's what it feels like
up here on the Olympic Peninsula. I live on the Strait and we have a foot now - winds are strong and they expect another foot!! Just glad I work at home.

2. The Seattle Media is Obsessed With It
They have been talking about the snow non stop all day! You'd think it was a volcanic eruption that covered the whole West Coast.

7. My kid tried to get out yesterday, made it 20 miles in 3 hours.
Is trying again this morning. Looks like we got the worst of it yesterday, it was/is very pretty, even the winds blowing it off the trees.

Being in the rain/snow shadow was discouraging over the weekend while everyone else got snow, but it's more than made up for it now. brrrrrrr and glad the power has only flickered a couple times. And VERY glad we got a cord of good wood in Sun

5. Not soon--the melt won't begin until Thursday
I love this cold weather but even with traction tires and four wheel drive, I'll bundle up and walk to any destinations tomorrow.

6. Saw the 11pm news.
I5 south of Seattle is a parking lot. Some people have been sitting in their cars for 6 hours.

Glad I'm not one of them!

:)

8. I was almost, almost ...
... going to ride my bicycle to the train station yesterday. I ride year round, but I was a little leery about riding on ice. Wife dropped me off and picked me up yesterday.

Today I drove. Kids were off school.

I did see a couple of hardcore crazies who rode their bikes today. I'm still just a lightweight sissy.

Maybe I'll buy a second bike--like a fat tire cruiser with knobby tires for snow.

9. Just saw a grade school kid
biking through the drifts in the middle of the street. Those are about 12". Ah - kids!
For this snow - a recumbent bike would do well!

10. I live on the east side of the state
Actually North Central Washington. We haven't had a lot of snow, but the winds are drifting what we do have, and the temps are only between 12 and 14 degrees today, getting down to -10 tonight, and a high of only around 6 tomorrow! I had to plow Saturday and again today, mostly because of the drifts, some up to 2 feet high in places. I used to live in Everett and I know how bad things get when it snows over there.

11. I live in Kitsap County
and was without electricity for 24 hours. I am so thankful for the hard work PSE did in getting my power back on. And a special thanks to the crews who have traveled here from BC to Idaho to help us out. I can see Bainbridge Island from my house and it is still dark tonight. Hopefully they will get their electricity back soon.

13. I'm grateful for just the flicker
It shuts off my phones, clocks and computer, but resetting and rebooting is really a minor hassle compared to living at below freezing temps for a day. We have only electric baseboard heaters.
