| RBST and Milk in Washington |
|
Been out of work since the end of March. Might be landing a job at Fred Hutch this week. Fingers crossed, and if I catch any goats off their leash I'll be sacrificing them. .
Wife and I have a 2 year old, so we're getting WIC. Curious how the 10 year old and 6 year old can fend for themselves, but whatever.
When we signed up, we talked about milk. I said we only bought RBST milk, and the woman all but argued with me and asking me why we felt it was necessary to buy organic. I tried to be calm and explain RBST-free and either US or WA certified organic were very different things.
She assured me all milk in Washington was hormone free, and I politely asked whether she could point me to some information about that. All I got was a printout that included website links, including one for rbstfacts.org which from what I've seen in the past is just a Monsanto apologist.
We opted out of the milk, but I was curious if anyone knew for sure if there was any Washington law (RCW or WAC) that prohibited RBST milk from being sold in Washington?

We noticed that regardless of where we bought milk (Fred Meyer, Albertson's, QFC, Trader Joe's, Safeway, 7-11 once out of desperation), it's all RBST-free.
I don't know if it's a state law, but we can't seem to find milk that isn't RBST-free.

| 3. It's not law, it's just the fact that they can label it and consumers choose... |

If you want hormones in your milk, you can get it from Wal-Mart, for example.
