good food, good music with hilarious lyrics. Senator Durgan was there (on a book tour and visiting relatives)and spoke well. Senator Cantwell outlined some ideas of local and national consequence.
Durgan said "Politics is like driving a car. If you want to go forward, put it in D. If you want to go back-wards, put it in R!" He spoke in strong support of Senator Cantwell.
Cantwell talked about changing course in Iraq (among other things). She articulated all the concerns I had and in a private moment, I promised to support her.
Had interesting conversations with a number of people while we were eating. I said that I had campaigned for Nixon and another guy said he had too, neither of us were ashamed of it. We talked about the shift rightward in the country that had made Nixon into a posthumous progressive. The guy then said he had campaigned for Goldwater in 1964. He was not ashamed of that either and said that Goldwater had contempt for the religious right.
We unfortunately arrived a bit late and may have missed a good amount of the program.
