| Anybody up for a Kerry Sign Watch in Milwaukee? |
|
Here's how I see it working. We get up a corps of people to patrol a neighborhood with a high rate of Kerry sign theft. Two people cruising in a car with flashlights and cell phones.
We then proceed to notify the local media... invite camera crews and reporters to travel with the patrol... suggest hopefully they'll catch a sign thief on video... buy them a bag of donuts... whatever it takes to coax them along.
We then have them for several hours to talk about all the Kerry material being stolen and defaced across the country (as documented on a thread in GD2004), and how the Bushbots must really believe they're gonna lose unless they lie, cheat, and steal - after all, it's the only way they were able to win in 2000.
In other words, as a theft deterrent this probably has minimal impact. But as a P.R. vehicle, the impact is immeasurable.
What do you all think? Who's on board?

do you really need John Kerry to personally deliver and install it for you? GO DOWNTOWN! We need signs out there! I bought two signs several weeks ago (a bunch of people consolidated an order) and they were just ripped off yesterday. I'm not going to sit around and whine about it, I'm going to order more signs!
No time for girley-supporters - the campaign staffers have their hands full as it is. It's not like the primaries, where there were tons of volunteers hanging around just waiting for the order to go deliver some signs. We have to take the initiative!
And, while you're at it, sign up at JohnKerry.com to make some phone calls from home. I just did five phone calls to Maine while I was installing a program on my computer. It took no time at all, and three of the people were SO happy that I let them know about next weekend's canvassing (the others weren't home, so I left messages).

| 4. I'd suggest there are more productive uses of your time |

as the election draws near. Not that it wouldn't be fun, just that there are probably more useful ways to help ensure a Kerry victory in WI.

...isn't productive? I am already doing plenty for the JK campaign - as well as several others - but hell, who needs sleep? I can sleep in 4 weeks.

| 6. My sign disappeared the other night here in Appleton |
|
I sent this letter to the Post-Crescent for publication:
Our Kerry/Edwards yard sign disappeared the other night, as did those of some of my neighbors. Apparently small-brained Bush supporters have grown desparate enough to resort to theft to promote the illusion that there is no support for the dynamic Democratic duo. Out of sight, out of mind, eh? Last week's debate had to be a stake in the heart for those folks. That the Presidency is hard work should have been no surprise for Bush, but he tried to skate through the debate unprepared just the way he seems to do everything else while in office, and will pay the price. A tidal wave is building that will wash the White House clean.

The campaign office says they'll get me another this week. Hang onto your spare for now. You might need it if these assholes move south to Menasha.
