Dueling Puppets ~ Harper and Australia's PM reading same script
http://www.brasschecktv.com/page/439.html

This video shows Harper and Australia's PM reading the same exact statement - word for word - supporting the invasion of Iraq. This was in 2003, before Harper became PM. Like the OP, I'd really like to know who handed the script to them.

1. My quess is the American Enterprise Institute
I think the AEI had the task of (and a contract for) supplying pro-Bush talking points to anyone who would back his war. They likely expected that most recipients would tailor the remarks to suit their own political views, media markets, etc. before delivery.

What I think likely happened is that, for whatever reasons, these two conservative leaders used the talking points as-is without any editing. The amazing thing to me (as a Canadian) is that this duplication wasn't revealed until years later.

In a testament to modern journalism, far as I know, Harper has never been asked to explain why this happened.

2. Harper also went on FoxTV around the same time to apologize for Canada
not joining in the Iraq war. Why can't the Liberals get a video copy of this and show it to the Canadian people?
It's disgusting. Harper slithers out of everything and keeps on presenting himself as a middle of the road Canadian!

3. I think he Liberals may be reticent to bring this up.
It might lead people to ask suspiciously why Michael Ignatieff was in favour of the Iraq invasion back in the day.
