Liberals to move no-confidence

Michael Ignatieff's Liberals today will table a motion of no-confidence in the Conservative government, with a vote to take place on Thursday.

As Parliament resumes after a week-long break and Stephen Harper prepares to deliver his report card on infrastructure stimulus spending, the Liberal leader is putting the finishing touches on the motion strategists have said will be straight-up and clearly worded.

Ottawa Liberal MP David McGuinty told reporters at a press conference this morning that his party has not changed its view on the Harper minority government, a view that was articulated at the Sudbury national caucus retreat earlier this month. “This is not a government that we can support right now,” he said.

It is expected, however, that the no-confidence motion will fail as the NDP has said it will support the government. It wants to see the changes to employment insurance reforms be passed through Parliament.

We will have a watch dog on the Conservatives. Harper can't continue his migration of Canada from Canadians to others.

2. I wonder how long the Conservative-NDP coalition will last?

It must be one of the most unusual coalitions in Canadian history. Given that Harper didn't run on the basis of an NDP-Conservative coalition (a necessary condition for a coalition according to Harper), one would think he would shrink from this Conservative-NDP coalition. Oh well, I guess the coalition partners will work it out at their next coalition meeting.

It as a coalition. Harper will continue to steamroller things through. His next move is a senate majority.

Seems like the NDP are caught. They have been banking on the Liberals being too weak to fight. Now they are counting their money and are short.

If Ontario and BC voters are looking for an option to Harper, then their NDP followers now have an option.

Maybe in a few months all the opposition parties will be attacking Harper.
