Made it across the border at Sweet Grass/Coutts yesterday, and stayed in Calgary last night. Headed for the 'rents in Wabamun here in a little while. I reset my DU password on my laptop (I had lost my cookie awhile back, and could only post on the desktop), so I can post from here now.
Looking forward to beginning the lengthy immigration process. Hope to be in touch more with you guys in the future. :)

I am fortunate enough to have dual citizenship (my parents were Canadian when I was born). I lived on Vancouver Island for a time and really loved it. So quiet-- the people so genuine. Kind of like Americans were in the 50s: they are neighborly and will actually come over and introduce themselves and invite you over for tea. Wonderful people.
:fistbump:
Family matters brought me back but I'm free to go there anytime.

| 6. Yeah, it was pretty good most of the way. |

Heading west from Minneapolis it was pretty bleak and dreary, and all through North Dakota it was just blech. But nothing too nasty.
Heading west from Bismarck we had a rain/sleet mix, but when we got into eastern Montana, the sun came out, and it stayed that way until Great Falls. The sun was actually out when we crossed the border, and then it started getting overcast again.
I had packed heavy duty snow boots, extra blankets, and oodles of snacks in case we were trapped in snow somewhere (horrible visions of a Shannen Doherty Lifetime TV movie), but we did OK.
Unfortunately, my hip is still complaining about the position it was in for most of the trip. I'll need to do some more dog walking to pop it back in place and get some of the weight off of it.
The dog and cat are acclimating to the new home at last. Five days in the back seat of a Honda Civic is not the best place for a Great Pyrenees.
