| Ignatieff's "Rise Up" vs. Layton's fake Newfoundland accent |
|
So Ignatieff gets carried away and starts sounding like a Baptist preacher with all that 'rise up' stuff and the press can't stop jabbering about it...yet Jack Layton goes to Newfoundland and addresses a rally with his in and out pseudo-Newfie accent, and all we hear is crickets. How many bloody times did he say 'Newfoundlandandlabrador' as if it was one word, and trying to sound like he was a weather beaten cod fisherman off Conception Bay?? And how many times did the press corps comment on that obvious bit of condescending pandering to the locals? Zero times. Not once.
All I'm saying that fair is fair, and if Iggy sounded a little unhinged (which I think he did), then Jack certainly sounded phony as hell doing the Irish two step every time he said - all together now - "Newfoundlandandlabrador!!!"
The shit makes me sick...

The media has decided Jack Layton is the one everyone wants to have a beer with so they ignore his missteps. Iggy is the super serious guy and they don't mind pointing out any of his foibles. The thing is voting for Layton is, just going to ensure a victory for Harper. I say this as someone who has voted for the NDP in the past.

I almost wish we didn't have elections so I didn't have to read this parrot noise over and over at this site every time.
If I and enough of my fellow voters in this riding voted Liberal rather than NDP, we might just elect a Conservative member ...

| 2. Nevermind the fact that none in the media pointed out that Harper never sounds like he did during |
|
the debate. It was so obviously forced and he was trying hard to keep his voice low and in control. Fake, fake, fake. Bedtime stories with Steve.

Whenever Steve is doing an interview, and during the debate, my chesterfield partner would helpfully remind him from time to time: Inside voice, Stephen, inside voice.
