Layton has other cause to celebrate. More than any other leader, Canadians (43%) trust him to provide open, responsible and ethical government.

I laughed at the deerintheheadlights looks of all the political pundits on TV last night discussing the NDP surge.

And in another poll - Jack is within 3 points of Steven.

1. It could happen, I'm on board

While I love the Liberal party dearly, and will be voting Liberal this election (safe seat), I'd love to see the looks on my conservative friends' faces if Layton actually becomes PM. I have nothing against the NDP policy-wise, it's the vote splitting that has always peeved me.

2. The Liberals could have dealt with the vote-splitting issue constructively in the past

All they'd really have to have done would be to pledge, in exchange for NDP votes in Liberal/Tory marginals

1)an EQUAL Liberal commitment to vote NDP in NDP/Tory marginals

2)the early introduction and passage of legislation introducing proportional representation for parliamentary elections in Canada.

The Liberal Party's leaders refused to do either. And now, unfortunately for their supporters such as yourself(to whom I hold no personal malice)the whole party is paying the price.

It could have been so very different.

But May 2nd will now give Canada a very different political landscape.

It's been a major part of the NDP program for years.

It would be difficult for him to not bring it up but then still use it as an issue. That would just make him look like a sellout.

I will expect to see it rolled out. No hemming or hawing. Albert Reform will now reach all over the country and Quebec separatists will now influence the ROC!

I live in an riding where every party except the Greens have a chance.

No one has a clue which party will win.

On May 2nd I'm voting NDP.
