| So are you set for another 10 years of conservative rule? |
|
I presume Harper will step down and not run again in the next election for personal reasons (time to do something else) but given the highly-unlikely possibility of the party stalwarts and backroomers in the Lib and NDP camps giving non-con voters a unified choice next time, I think we will likely have another 8-10 years of conservative rule.
Eventually a united center-left alternative may emerge that can defeat the cons, but I think it will take at least one more certain electoral defeat for the non-cons before any serious effort to unite succeeds to overcome the opposition to it from people invested in the two parties.
Too bad. However, if the non-con parties insist in refusing to offer the 6 in 10 non-con voters a unified choice for another election or two, and since people don't care, then so be it. I no longer intend to care much about it either, as there's nothing I can do about it.
