No one knows because Americans living abroad are not counted in the U.S. Census
And why should you care? Well, because it's impossible to improve expat access to voting, social security and consular services without solid facts on the the size and location of the American expat population.
That is the why Overseas Vote Foundation is now working with international and domestic organizations in the Overseas Citizens Count -- to determine the number of Americans living abroad and how we are dispersed geographically.
Are you an American living in Canada or anywhere overseas? You're invited to stand up and be counted at
http://counting-citizens-abroad.org/ It's a snap!
