Ottawa killed Expo bid over eastern jealousy: report
Edmonton Mayor Stephen Mandel reacted angrily Wednesday to media reports that the Harper government withdrew its support for the city's Expo 2017 bid over fears of jealousy from eastern Canada.

"It hasn't changed my opinion on what happened, or how we were treated. It just verifies it," Mandel said.

"The federal government is more concerned about Eastern Canada than Western Canada. Western Canada, even when they have 27 out of 28 seats, in Alberta."
