Are Hudak and Horwath new BFFs?

OTTAWA—NDP Leader Andrea Horwath may just be Progressive Conservative Leader Tim Hudak’s new best friend.

As the final leg of the Oct. 6 election campaign begins and every poll shows the race is too close to call, Conservative strategists are hoping Horwath continues to peel away voters from the governing Liberals.

Some refer to her as the PC campaign’s cherished ally “just like Jack Layton was” in the federal election last spring.

Vote splits on May 2 — especially in Ontario — helped propel Prime Minister Stephen Harper’s Conservatives to a majority, leaving the Liberals in tatters and the NDP as the official opposition for the first time.
