Cameron's eldest son Ivan dies

Conservative leader David Cameron's eldest son Ivan has died in hospital.

The six-year-old, who had cerebral palsy and epilepsy, became ill and was taken to St Mary's hospital overnight where he died early on Wednesday.

Mr Cameron, who described Ivan as "wonderful", and wife Samantha have two younger children, Nancy and Arthur.

Prime Minister Gordon Brown led tributes, saying Ivan was "a child who brought joy to all those who knew him and his was a life surrounded by love".

Quite tragic - I didn't know his son was ill maybe because there has been little previous press coverage of his condition.

I knew that Cameron had a disabled son, but I was not aware that his condition was so severe and life-threatening.

fed through a tube, couldn't crawl or communicate.

Tragic.
