| UK Blood Service blaming Europe for blood discrimination policies. |
|
Nice easy whipping boy
<[div class="excerpt">Many of the rules implemented in the UK on who can give blood are a requirement of European law. However, there are a number of expert committees that regularly review the evidence relating to exclusions and deferrals from blood donation. Policies which specifically relate to the safety of blood for patients are recommended to the Government by the independent advisory committee on the Safety of Blood, Tissues and Organs (SaBTO). A key part of their work is to ensure that the policies applied by the UK Blood Services are based on the best available scientific evidence.

(This is the Government, not the Labour Government or whatever comes next. This is some advertising arse working for the Blood Service who we all too polite British people never blame because it is not done to blame Council Officers or Civil Servants).

| 1. I don't think they are blaming Europe, actually, or there wouldn't be a review |

It's due to end this summer: http://www.nhsbt.nhs.uk/news/newsrelease120309.htmlSo they're not just saying "our hands are tied by Europe".
