| Another heartbreaking story from my old Tory stomping ground. Have Kleenex ready. |

I have to admit that I shed tears when I read poor Edward Garnier MP's story. Have we unfeeling Brits really reduced the poor man to this? http://www.harboroughmail.co.uk/news/MP-Garnier-34I-can39t-afford.6422191.jpAnd who says that Tories have no understanding of the life of Ordinary People? :sarcasm: The Skin

| 2. The latter, judging from the article. |

Property prices have rocketed since I lived there in the 80s, due to its having become a popular commuting town for The Smoke.
However, I wouldn't have thought it would be out of the reach of a Barrister-cum-Government Minister, even one whose expense account has been slashed.

The Liberal Democrats finished second in Harborough in the last two elections, but their place in the coalition will guarantee them a major loss of votes next time, and Labour is not in any real position to take advantage.
Possibly only a Martin Bell-type independent could beat him.

... during which both Labour and the LibDems fielded some first-rate candidates to no avail. Truly, this is "Baboon-with-a-blue-rosette" country.

| 7. I just checked Wikipedia, and that constituency has been continuously Tory since 1950. |
|
Prior to that, it had been Conservative since the 1920's, with one Labour Mp elected in the Attlee landslide of 1945.
The UK needs an opposition party.
