| Anyone else been having 'election-nightmares' - other than in the waking state of course? |
|
I've had several. The most recent was that it was revealed that some of the new Conservative MPs were not real people, but artificial intelligence programmes 'programmed to be right-wing'. This resulted in a big legal debate about whether computer programmes are eligible to sit in Parliament!

| 1. I'm still trying to wake up from the one I had in May |
|
I understand that Nick Clegg had a similar one but has now woken up and consequently is nowhere to be seen.
Lucky bugger.

How else do you account for Hazel Blears?
It will be interesting to see if the coalition MP's prove to be just as bad.

you're accepting your new government.
It's freaking me out and I'm a foreigner reading about it from a distance. It's giving me flashbacks of Reaganomia.

| 4. I'm not sure what all the fuss is about......all of our governments have been various shades of grey |
|
and have been getting less ideologically defined since Bliar moved into Thatcher's space in 97.....still must still appeal to someone from the US, where there isnt really any shade of grey...just one monotone corporate choice of management team A or management team B......

Plus a lot of people are still happy about Labour being booted out. The government is still in it's honeymoon period if truth be told, although it's not as bad as it was in 1997 with all the fawning over Tony Blair you had back then.
The most anger I've seen (probably cos I work in Sheffield) has been over the government cancelling the Forgemasters loan.

| 6. The difference is that there's no "mania" over Cameron ... |
|
... who was unable even to secure a majority for his party, while the much-vaunted "Cleggmania" has melted like snow on the water.
As pointed out below, this contrasts radically with the positive enthusiasm, at least in some quarters, for Thatcher and Blair when they were first elected.
There's some doubt as to whether this government will even last 5 years. Fingers crossed ...

The Lib Dems election results were at best mediocre, in spite of Clegg's performance in the TV debates.
They may have have got into a coalition government, but they stand to lose a great deal more then the Tories from this arrangement if people turn against the government.
