otherwise all the Labourites and the most RW Tories will vote against Electoral Reform, just to bring down the Coalition. In practice, I don't see Nick remaining leader very long if Electoral Reform fails.
I think reform is badly needed, just for the sake of democracy, regardless of the specific concerns of the LibDems. Most elections have given very distorted results with huge majorities in parliament to parties that got small pluralities; and even this time nearly half the seats to a party with 36% of the vote.

Given how much the Lib Dems have gambled on electoral reform in this parliament. Lose that and it's difficult to see what they've achieved out of this arrangement other then power for Nick Clegg.
