The Tories were up to this when they were in opposition and I would not be suprised if other parties use the same trick to raise funds.

You can have breakfast & drinkies with a couple of shadow ministers at Manchester next month for a touch over 1500 quid so a grand or two to chug down some rubber chicken with Ministers is probably good value in comparison.
