Glenn Mulcaire names News of the World staff behind phone hacking

Private investigator Glenn Mulcaire has revealed the names of the News of the World staff who instructed him to carry out phone hacking, his solicitor has confirmed.

The information was passed in a letter to Steve Coogan's lawyers in accordance with a court order.

Mulcaire had applied for permission to appeal against the order, which was made in February, but this was denied and he was compelled to pass over the details by Friday.

His solicitor, Sarah Webb, from Payne Hicks Beach, said she could not reveal who the NoW employees were because of "confidentiality issues".

Confidentiality issues? That really is taking the piss to the nth degree. Like they ever gave a flying monkey bollock about anyone's confidentiality.

Ladies and gentlemen, sit back and enjoy. Mulcaire is going back to prison and he will have some company. And it's always worth taking the time to ask: "Where were we six months ago?", "Where are we now?"

Branson can't, the Monopolies Commission would block that , which leaves only an equally large corporation if News International were to be classed as undesirable in connection with our media.

Without wishing to support Murdoch Snr it is in fact largely due to his efforts which have made our satellite tv service what it is and led to BSkyB's profitabilty. In turn I doubt that BSkyB will want to lose Murdoch Minor.

as I tend to think that at least a new person/group, however bad, would need some time to get as powerful as the Murdochs,

What I *really* hope is that this scandal reduces the right-wing media's influence on government and culture in Britain. Bad as the Murdoch empire's corruption, phone hacking, etc. were, their *worst* aspect was their ability to influence voters and therefore government in a right-wing direction, and the subservience that governments of both parties seemed to show to them. (And I hope that my use of the past tense is not premature here!)

The Crown case which is being built against numerous people, most of whom are likely to be charged at the same time in October, could start to collapse like a pack of cards if information was published likely to influence a jury/jurors. That's also why when the first trial starts, forecast for Spring 2013, they have already announce there will be a complete news blackout on publishing evidence heard through until the last trial.
