The Bells of London

Hi folks,

This post has absolutely nothing to do with politics.

I have a question for those who are familiar with the London area. A friend of mine, who will soon be heading for University of Bristol as a graduate student, recently found out that there is a longer version of the nursery rhyme "Oranges and Lemons". He wants to do a tour of all the churches/bell towers mentioned. An internet search on the subject gets us the 7 mentioned in the short version (St. Clements, Old Bailey, Bow, etc)... does anyone know where the others are/were located? You can reply to my DU message box if you don't want to take up forum space. The melody to the rhyme has been stuck in my head ever since he told me about this and following up on it may be the only way to get it out of there.

I've already been to. It's the first listed by the search engines I've used. While the poem does give hints to location, some are less obvious then others... we're specifically looking for pointers to the churches of: St. Catherine's, St. John's, Whitechapel, Shoreditch, & St, Margaret's.

4. Bow bells

Appararently from what I've heard you have to be born close enough to hear the sound of Bow Bells if you want to be a true Cockney. Something like that anyway.

"Blimey guv'ner! I'm orf darn the pie n' mash shop!" :P
