Federal Judge Upholds Ohio's Punch-card Voting

A federal judge in Akron today upheld Ohio's punch-card voting system in a challenge filed by the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU).

It was the nation's first trial challenging punch-card voting.

Judge David Dowd rejected the A-C-L-U claim that votes by blacks may have been disproportionately invalidated by outdated punch-card voting machines.

He says all voters in a county, without regard to race, use the same voting method.
