| A call to all DU'ers to Boycott ALL MSM on Jan 20 |
|
Edited on Sun Dec-26-04 03:56 PM by proudtobeadem
And I don't mean just the news -I mean all shows. Just don't turn your TV's on at all and don't buy any papers on Jan 20th. Spread the word. On edit: also don't go to any MSM websites.

Can I watch LinkTV??
I can easily give up the news, and I don't buy a newspaper anyway. I suppose I could watch Farenheit 9/11 all day!

and then send all the major networks and your provider an email telling them exactly WHY you did it and that you voted for Kerry and you aren't going to listen to their propagandic bullshit anymore.
I haven't watched MSM news or bought a newspaper since November 3 and it feels DAMN good.

Also, I will be in DC for the rally to save Democracy and our right to vote. This is a depressing time bit exciting as well to see so many concern citizens sticking up for their rights. It is a great experience to attend a protest and be a part of something bigger then yourself concerning all Americans.

If my viewing were traceable, then I would boycott. However since no MSM knows what I'm watching (I hope) and I've canceled all paper subscriptions, what's the point?
Watching the propaganda serves a useful purpose. At least you know the latest psy-ops tactic.

Thanks for your post. This is really a "hot-button" issue for me.
Since Nov. 3, got rid of satellite TV, got $10/month basic cable instead. Bought one of those "all you can watch" DVD subscriptions with the monthly savings. We no longer watch TV, don't listen to radio with one exception: We listen to Air America Radio 24 hours/day with the exceptions of Franken and the Morning Zoo guys, who refuse to cover election fraud.
I agree it probably makes sense to monitor some of the MSN headlines. However, Buzzflash and Air America cover many of those stories anyway.
I do go to the BBC website and occasionally watch their videos. The BBC is a nonprofit organization.
I'm carrying around a lot of anger and resentment towards the MSM. If the MSM is going to betray our trust--the trust of millions of people--with all the disinformation and propaganda marketed as "news," then why should I watch any of their other programming? So they can make money off of me as an advertising statistic? No more.

| 23. Let's be strategic about this... |
|
A lot of what we should do next is going to depend on events on Jan. 6. All our effort should be aimed at that date right now--getting news coverage, and pressuring Dems to put up a united front. If all is Iron Curtained, then, Project #2 should be an organized boycott of the MSM SPONSORS, SUBSIDIARIES' PRODUCTS, STOCKS and other items to hit them financially, a la the Sinclair Broadcasting project, perhaps combined with an educational campaign to boycott the networks'news and entertainment broadcasts. A boycott of broadcasts, by itself, is too diffuse a thing. I can't think how to implement it on anything but an individual basis.
We may also want to concentrate on the worst of them first, and do them one at a time--which would concentrate our financial and P.R. power, and given warning to the least worst that they had better reform their news departments or they're next.
We could also do a quickie organizing thing between Jan. 6 and Jan. 20. My first thought, some kind of visual protest, I'm not sure what--that maybe could combine with a network boycott. Something all Kerry voters and concerned Americans can participate in, not just those who can go to DC. Headlights on? Something to hang in the window? Maybe handwritten signs all over the nation's windows: "Kerry won! Turn off your TV!" 60 million protest phone calls to the network news departments? I don't know. Ideas?
