I am sick to my stomach all over again...
I thought I was over the disappointment of yesterday until I heard Olbermann say Rossi was going to contest the Washington election.

I am so sick of the lying, cheating hypocritical Republican thugs who ram it down our asses while our f*ckass chicken*sht former presidential candidate and the rest of the senators stand back and watch as Democracy is stolen right before our very eyes. Right now I hate Kerry and the rest of them. Hate. Hate. Hate.

Jesus, I'm sorry for the majorly depressing rant, but I really feel like throwing up right now.

2. I wish that were true
However, you would have to be blind to read this forum and think that hate is just for the opponants. Unfortunately, it runs rampant in both parties...here, and at Free Republic as well. I guess emotions and politics are forever intertwined.

8. They thrive
now; in their warm little abodes, but come warm weather loook out.
They are fighting and we will win. They gave up all of their morality for money and sex but we still have our self respect, and our strength
comes from truth and the rock it is built on.

11. I disagree
I know politics brings out passion. And I hate what they (repubs) are doing. Their politics are motivated by fear and hatred.

But I've rarely seen the level of hatred and animosity here at DU as I have in the snippits of freeper I have read. If it were that bad here, I wouldn't be here.

Hate them, hate what they do, but don't be motivated by hate alone.

16. Naw
I've read Free Republic. We get snippets of only the worst part over here. Otherwise, why copy it here?

If I selectively took snippets of the worst of DU and posted it elsewhere, I am sure DU would look like it was JUST motivated by hate, even though we both know that is not the case.

Really, I think that hate isn't the motivating factor for all, or even most, of any politically active group of people. However, it is a relatively common thing to find on all political boards, no matter what positions or parties you support. And DU is FAR from free of hate, probably no more or less than Free Republic or any other politics board.

Maybe I think this way because I strongly believe I am not motivated by hate, nor do I hate Republicans or even Bush. Hate is just not my thing. People are not born the way they are, they are made into it. I can hate the things people were taught to do, but I find it very hard to hate the person doing it.

9. Here's My Haiku (to make NightOwwl smile)
Mangled loose smile builds
fumblingly, coyly, lamely
lamely, dead.

This is plagerized and I have no idea what it means but the word smile is in there.

Don't be so upset. We're going to come out on top in the long run. Hate the Repugs--not your own kind.

12. Thanks Greybnk...
Your silly haiku did make me smile.

The hate I felt was fleeting, but the disappointment will last a very long time.

20. Here's another random one with the word 'smile' in it...
iron oak smiles, stale
tame enviable snowdrifts
ranting fleas frowning

10. They're completely on another wavelength, one of exploitation and deceit

here's a nice inspiring quote.

...most men have bound their eyes with one or another handkerchief, and attached themselves to some one of these communities of opinion. This conformity makes them not false in a few particulars, authors of a few lies, but false in all particulars. Their every truth is not quite true. Their two is not the real two, their four not the real four; so that every word they say chagrins us, and we know not where to begin to set them right."

13. Here's the news link...

Republican Dino Rossi and the state GOP announced Friday they will contest the gubernatorial election that gave his Democratic foe, Christine Gregoire, a 129-vote victory.

Democrats said the challenge is unfounded.

Republicans have been building a case, gathering evidence of voting irregularities, including what they allege were illegal provisional ballots and a handful of votes cast by dead people.

They are pushing for a revote, an unprecedented step in a statewide election.

"There are so many improperly cast and counted ballots that this election is invalid," said Rossi, a real estate agent and former state senator. "You cannot tell who won. The only way for us to get out of this problem is for us to have a revote."

Democrats said the state constitution won't allow a revote.

"No court will find this election should be set aside," said Democratic Party attorney Jenny A. Durkan. Even if illegal votes were cast, she said, "it would not change the outcome of the election."
