| Physical risks to voting machines - clearinghouse of |
|
I am building up a clearinghouse of the basic physical risks to voting systems.
I do not want the complicated hacks etc, but the everyday risks to voting systems from laypersons etc.
Example:
1. disruption of service - on the Advanced Voting Solutions WINVote, it is only tested to withstand a certain amount of static electricity. It might not be able to withstand the static built up from a person scruffing their feet across a carpeted room.
2. magnets causing erasure of the votes - is this possible? some computer scientists have told me that this is an urban legend.
What I am looking for is risks that can be documented, not suposition. (Not rumors or hoaxes).
I am mostly concerned with risks to the votes, and with disruption of service (which disenfranchises voters).
This is a part that has not been addressed.
