| Horror buffs - any of you familiar with Ramsey Campbell? |
|
I'm about two-thirds of the way through 'Alone With the Horrors,' which is a kind of "greatest hits" of his short fiction, and I have to say that this guy is really good. Although I'm now more of a "literary fiction" type of guy, I used to love Stephen King back in high school, but I'd say Campbell tops him in more ways than one. I mean, I doubt King's stuff could scare me much now, but I've found some of Campbell's stories genuinely frightening and disturbing. Good stuff!

for some reason i haven't seen campbell's stuff around in awhile, probably because i no longer read as much horror as i once did, but he is certainly one of the masters
if you know stephen king, you probably know peter straub, but a very good short story collection of his, that i feel is of a similar high quality to campbell's, would be "houses without doors"
