I am not Christian so, for myself, I hope the 25th is as good as any day throughout the year. It sucks that almost everything is closed that day since the choices of what to do are limited. But I will probably enjoy some Chinese food and a movie.
Regardless, that does not stop me from wishing you and your family a joyous Chrismas day. So, merry Christmas! And a happy 2010!

Chinese food sounds like a breath of fresh air after all the turkey and mashed potatoes I have consumed over the past few weeks! I may suggest that as a new holiday tradition in my family.
And a movie sounds better than watching the blue-gray game or whatever football dreck they come up with every Christmas.
Here's hoping you have a nice day off from work and that you enjoy it to its fullest.

I'll be singing at our late Christmas Eve service and Christmas Day service, assuming that we don't all get snowed in, although it takes an awful lot of snow to stop a Minnesotan. :-)

I work in retail, and the behavior you see is positively inhuman. I am dearly looking forward to Christmas for no other reason than I will have a simple day of rest and respite from the madness, and maybe a chance to see some friendly faces. It should be a good day.
Do you have any special plans?

I used to work in retail during winter break back in college and the people shopping were at their nastiest. I mean, these people had to shit on us at the stores so they could get into their "Christmas spirit". I have a lot of respect for people in retail who have to suffer through the abuse during the holiday season. Especially the day after when the angry bunch are returning the presents they dislike.

| 20. I've been sore from head to toe every day since Thanksgiving. |
|
I've been popping ibuprofen like candy. It just seems to get worse every day. Even on Saturday, when we had our huge snowstorm, there was nobody in the store, but I had to shovel snow, and get carts through 3-5 inches of snow. We had this one asshole who parked up on the curb and hit our maintenance guy with his truck. I had a lady yesterday who freaked out and threatened to sue because I asked her son for ID. (They were buying lighters.) I was discussing the angry call with the HR director, and I told him it was the same lady who had been banned from the Starbucks in our store for complaining too many times. Once he knew who it was, he wasn't very concerned. The GM has orders from corporate to ban her from the store if she complains one more time.
I've wrestled with calling out every day for the past two weeks, but I've made it in every day. Today I'm in at 4pm, and probably getting out some time after 2am, but it's my last day - I have tomorrow off. I'm actually proud of myself for making it all the way through. I do have to wonder why they have to return everything the very next day.

| 34. There's way too much stress on everyone, thanks to |
|
our complete capitulation to the idea that Christmas is first and foremost about getting stuff for everyone you know - the bigger and more expensive stuff, the better.
The crowded malls, the traffic jams, the stores without what you're looking for... all of it creates so much stress. Too many of us who celebrate this holiday (myself most certainly included) get drawn completely away from its meaning.

| 27. I know that you are blinded by your ideology, but |
|
if you thought about it objectively, you would realize that it is actually you who has fallen into the error of circular argumentation. You start from the premise that the Bible cannot be believed, and you end with the conclusion that the Bible cannot be believed. But since you are mired in the morass of this fallacy, you cannot step back and see what is going on.
Anyway, it is Christmas eve, a very joyous time of the year, and my joy cannot be affected by your negativism. Have a wonderful Christmas!

| 30. You are the only one with an ideology, friend. And it surprises me to hear you |
|
tell ME to look at it objectively. That, ripe, for sure, considering that no evidence, none, zip, nada, zero, has ever been presented to corroborate ANY claim you make about god, jesus, the bible or your religion whatsoever. I suggest that YOU read up on circular argumentation and recalibrate your inner compass, because you have it ass backwards.
But you are right about one thing. It is christmas eve, we have friends coming over to eat a rib roast and celebrate festivus, for the rest of us. Happy holidays to you and yours.

| 31. May the airing of your grievances |
|
be cathartic. (Festivus reference)
And if you refuse a priori to recognize any anything as evidence of God, it is by no means surprising that you arrive at the conclusion that there is no evidence of God. Some might even consider that circular reasoning. Could it be?
Enjoy your company and your meal, and may you have much happiness, fellowship and joy this evening and tomorrow.
