The Jets are awful this year. Why isn't Herm Edwards ever on the HOT seat??

I think Curtis once he recovers from his knee injury can be productive for a couple more years (he did have 1500 yds last season). but whether Chad can recover from his second shoulder surgery in as many years is another question.
you have as many players on IR as the jets, including the starting QB, an all time all pro center in Kevin Mawae, and the starting RT. Plus Curtis Martin playing on one leg due to a knee injury that will require off season surgery, the head coach will get a pass. especially since last year they did fairly well. but if they dont turn it around next year i expect him to go.

I think he's a very good coach. The most relevant stats are always excellent. Last year he was a kick away from winning two straight playoff road games against very good teams in San Diego and Pittsburgh. Being in the same division as New England has to be taken into consideration.
This year you've had Pennington out basically all year. But I do think it was a mistake getting rid of Santana Moss and I wrote that at the time. He's instant offense from WR or as a punt returner. Like he says, bigtime players make big plays and why the Jets would want to forfeit huge plays like that is a mystery to me.
I wouldn't draft Vince Young in any early round. At least not to play QB. He looks like a turnover machine to me in the NFL, at least the first few years of his career. He sits there in the shotgun and reads the defensive front seven first, not the secondary. That doesn't project to the NFL at all. Young zeroes in on the primary receiver from the outset unless he's flushed from the pocket. Only then does he look at a secondary receiver. Young has a ridiculous side arm delivery that is only getting worse in that regard. He does have a good arm and improving accuracy but he floats too many passes and that's suicide in the NFL.
Matt Leinart is not Carson Palmer in terms of ability but he's the most cerebral QB entering the draft in a decade. Reggie Bush is a once a decade talent in terms of explosiveness and elusiveness. You can destroy a defense by using him at halfback then spotting him outside or in the slot. Tough call. If you have equal grades on them you're supposed to pick the QB. Reggie Bush is as good or better right now than he'll ever be in the pros. Young legs. Rookie RBs need to play that's why I don't criticize Gruden for running Caddy heavily early in the season. Earl Campbell was far superior at Texas than he ever was in the NFL. Same with Herschel Walker at Georgia. Entering the NFL draft early is a boon for running backs and I'll never criticize one for doing it.

is if the Jets had the first or second pick...
I would draft either Leibhart or Bush with my pick, then trade John Abraham to whatever team had the other top pick and get the other one.

the top pick in the draft will likely be the Texans, followed by in some order the jets, lions, 49ers.
lions, 49ers, dont need a QB (i cant see the lions giving up on joey harrington already)

they can't use Bush as well as they might need to, better to get two starters than one potential star.
I don't think Leinart has the arm to be a superstar in the pros, yet. Vince Young is one bad hit away from losing his greatest asset, his mobility (not to say he won't develop into a pro-style QB, he's certainly smart enough, but running centered QBs don't have a good track record, overall, despite the brilliance of Mike Vick) and investing in a QB when your offensive line is a sieve is not the best idea. they are both three year projects, I think, and will be very good, but they're not starters now.
Bush is the best bet, of the top few guys, but, as noted, the Jets don't really need a scampering back. the Jets need too many pieces.

the best running QB was probably Steve young, and even he always thought pass first then run. I think Vick thinks run first then pass. he is far from brilliant as a passer.

but that's assuming they get the top pick. The Texans are contenders too, remember? They may draft Leinart just to see if he's better than David Carr.

but unlikely. they have too much invested in Carr to put money into another starter quality QB.
