Harrison and Wayne are going to give the Bears fits and Rex will have his apologists fleeing by the bus loads.

Bad Rex = 5 games, 16 int. 1 td. Good Rex = 13 games, 5 int. 24 td., NFL September player of the month
Colts, near bottom in run D. At the bottom in kick coverage.
But we shall see. In any event I think it should be a great game.

| 2. I can't get too excited about a team that just allowed 34 points |
|
Edited on Sun Feb-04-07 12:00 AM by Awsi Dooger
My yards per pass attempt differential system favors the Colts +1.37 to +.87, so I'll play them in the first half. But nothing in this game would shock me due to all the conflicting variables.
There is certainly no history of a team allowing that many points in the conference title game and then winning the Super Bowl. The only previous time a conference winner allowed 30 or more points was the '87 Broncos, in that pantyhose game against Cleveland, 38-33 after Earnest Byner fumbled going in to tie the game. Those Broncos were a 3.5 point favorite and led a blue collar Washington team 10-0 in the Super Bowl, before the 42-10 Doug Williams blowout. Ohio St had the same situation going into the BCS title game, a heavy favorite despite displaying vulnerability by allowing 38 points in its previous game against Michigan..

I don't see Rex influencing 10 points.

| 7. That missed FG by Vinatieri blew the first half for me |
|
I had some on the Colts first half money line but the bulk at -3.5. Looks ridiculous to lose when you consider the stats, 257 yards to 97 and 14 first downs to 3. But I had a feeling Vinatieri would blow it, considering he's been sneaking everything barely inside the uprights for weeks even indoors on carpet.
Grossman has played lousy from behind all season so Chicago needs to stop Indy, which gets the ball first in the 3rd quarter.

71-66 Rex. This was the kids first full year, how many QB's have taken their team into the SB in their first full year? 15-4 ain't too shabby. His future is bright, IMHO.

The Bears are terrified to throw the damn ball because he's so bad. Hos average pass completion was what--- 2 yards?

| 13. Bears, 28 passes, 19 runs. Average completion 8.3 yds. = not horrible! |
|
Passer rating 68.3. Not a great game but not horrible. The Bears lost it on the defensive line. NO pressure on Manning and huge holes to run through. Actually the Bears threw 60% of the time, Colts 48%. Average yards per pass attempt, Rex 5.89, Manning 6.5. Plus, he's not throwing to the likes of Marvin Harrison and Reggie Wayne.

One looked like a punt and indeed it was returned like one for a TD.
Give it up man... 2 weeks into next season and it won't be Rex.
He was horrible in the game yesterday.

And he averaged considerably more than 2 yards per completion.
I don't know why you hate him so much, he is a good kid, a hard worker and his teammates and coaches love him. He had a freak injurie 2 years in a row and worked his ass off in rehab. Last year he busted his butt in order to get back on the field before the end of the season when most said he wouldn't be ready until mini camp. He moved closer to Halas Hall so he could drop in to get film easier.
It's his first full year at the most complex position in the game. Rarely are QB's that young consistent and he was one of only 4 players in the league to be named player of the month. He is still a young pup in QB years and will only improve. As it was he was 7th in the league in TD's/Attempt and 6th in the league in yds/completion. The hall of fame is littered with quarterbacks who sucked for their fist couple of years. (Elway, Young, Favre, et al.)
It's only my opinion but he has shown many flashes that scream to me a high ceiling. Maybe never MVP material but top 5 or 10 consistently.

| 16. Number one...he's a fucking Gator and I hate all Gators. |
|
Number two: Who gives a shit if he's a good kid. Jay Fiedler was a good guy and he sucked. The football field is littered with good guys who suck on the field. Same with coaches...Dave Wannstedt is one of the nicest guys you'll ever meet but he sucks as a coach.
AND are you trying to compare Grossman to Young, Elway, and Favre?
The dude throws off the wrong feet---he has no pocket presense, he throws it up for anyone to grab, he's a bad quarterback.
Look--- he's your QB and if you love him...then great...keep him. I can pretty much tell you this though--- you're in the minority for folks who think that Rex is all that... Paper and paper...everywhere I've read shows extreme criticism over his play.

|
But all of their stats in their 1st 25/26 starts are worse than Rex's. Even I don't think Rex has HOF potential but I do think he can be a good to very good QB for years once he develops.
I'm as critical of Bears QB's as anyone, and there has been lots to criticize in the last 20 years. IMHO this guy is different. He has shown he can be the best offensive player in the NFL for a month, that is the talent he has that hasn't been seen in this town at that position in my lifetime. I feel the only shortcomings he cannot overcome with experience are lack of height and lack of speed. Who knows if he will overcome the others?
I don't follow college ball so no bias against the Gators or anyone else. Anyway, we've hashed this out enough. I do believe that we can agree that bunnypants is an asshole.
Peace

|
What--- a occasional flash from Rex and you see hope?
Again--- he makes stupid decisions in the pocket because he's scared shitless back there. He didn't improve during the season...he got worse.

The score could easily have been in that range. In fact, based on the stats it could have been worse.
