| It appears to me that the big Tuna is having an effect on the Phins. |

The Phins have beaten back to back the AFC title game playoff contenders from last season.
And thank you Jets for giving us Chad Pennington.

| 2. Massive situational advantage today |
|
Big home underdog coming off a bye, hosting road team coming off road victory within its division. It doesn't get much better than that from a situational perspective. Every sharp guy in Las Vegas had the Dolphins today, and have been crowing about it on the gambling message boards the past few hours.
It's the same situational scenario that helped the Jets upset Pittsburgh last year as 10 point home underdogs.
The mainstream media never mentions stuff like that, preferring to close its eyes and pretend every situation is identical.
Next week is a test for the Dolphins, on the road against a desperate winless team in the Texans. Miami will be in the satisfied category of a road team coming off a win. Those teams cover the number 45% of the time every year.

They'll talk offense tomorrow, but it was the Defense that won the day.

| 4. I was skeptical of Pennington, when he first came in. |
|
So far, I've been wrong. He hasn't just been a checkdown quarterback, as he was with the Jets the last two years - while he isn't necessarily throwing downfield every down, he doesn't have to with Ronnie and Ricky running the way they have the past two weeks.

I don't like him much at all, but he's doing real well down there. This football year is already shaping up to be a weird one, so who know what the Phins might do. They've already shown by these two wins that teams can't take them lightly anymore.
