| So, Jets fans...how you liking the Brett Favre Show now? |
|
You know, since half the team hates him and he's pulling his "Gee, I don't know if I have the desire or ability to come back" song and dance for the fifth straight year?
Oh, and:
Aaron Rodgers: 63.6% completions, 4,038 yards, 28 TD, 13 INT, 93.8 rating Brett Favre: 65.7% completions, 3,472 yards, 22 TD, 22 INT, 81.0 rating
I think the Packers will be just fine.

| 1. I didn't even realize that Rodgers had that many TDs. |

They made the right move anyways, even if Rodgers hadn't been that good. I have nothing really against Favre, he's been fun to watch over the years and all, but it was pretty clear at the end of last year that his arm was out of gas, and it happened even earlier this year. The guy is hanging on too long and tarnishing his career.

My bitterness is not quite as much at far as with the cult that insists he's the Football Jesus and could do no wrong. He ruled the mid-1990s and belongs in the Hall of Fame, but last year's 13-3 was a fluke.
It doesn't help when you've been an IU fan and have to deal with the same thing regarding Bobby Primadonna Knight.

| 3. Favre has won only 3 of his last 10 playoff games |
|
In my mind, his main accomplishment has been his amazing durability....and while he's a sure Hall of Famer, he's as much a media creation as anything else.
Rodgers has a bright future, I only wish the 49ers had drafted him instead of Alex Smith.

| 4. Yeah, I was mystified that he dropped so far in the draft |
|
Happy, though, since the Packers had a late round pick that year.

Though, there's no telling how successful he would have been in S.F. Nolan would have likely rushed him into service with that weak receiving corp and bad pass protection.

| 12. in defense of the 49'ers |
|
favre would have bombed in san fran, and not in good way. coming out of college, he was still an immature party boy. part of the reason he did so well in green bay is the fact it's NOT a big party environment like say chicago or new york. it's a small town and over the years it's had a "calming" effect on some of the biggest nutcases in the nfl that have come to play there. the other reason was probably mike holmgren and favre's wife....
anyhoo, if favre would have ended up in some big media market team right out of the gate, he might have flamed out faster.
just my two cents.

Jim Brown had it right.
If Favre had retired at the end of last year, he would have been a god in Green Bay. His image is now tarnished greatly, though it's too soon to tell how much of a PR hit he took. He didn't exactly leave on good terms.

once you get past a certain age, it's the concentration that's gone...just can't keep up that intense single-mindedness.

|
When will they get over it? They are supposed to be the most football savvy fans in the history of the gridiron. But the again the read and write to the GB PressGazette, maybe thats the problem
84 interceptions over the last 4 years, leads all QB's

The teams defense is what killed them. How many times were they in position to win, to have the defense give it up at the end.

It takes a lot out of one to cover for all those INT's earlier in the game. It was a team effort, the defense came up short, but so did Favre. It's just an absolute joke that he's in the pro bowl. He was arguably the 3rd best QB in the AFC EAST.

Favre certainly contributed largely to the Jets failures this year. Much less so for the Pack last year.

When a runner gets on base it is either a good hit or an error by a player.
How many times has an interception been the result of the receiver muffing the catch or for other reasons?

| 15. There's been a few of those from Favre |
|
However, based on the many Packer games I've watched, most of his interceptions are the result of bad decision making.
I wouldn't argue, however, that stats need to be updated to take drops/miffs into account.
