Fed and State Laws . . . on Pharmacists Who Won't Dispense Contraceptives

A report from the Congressional Research Service: Unfortunately, there is no comprehensive list here, but that information is available through other sources (like Planned Parenthood). Be aware what your state's laws are!

1. Thanks for the info
It's really maddening to see that this has even become an issue. I, for one, would change my pharmacy just on principle alone if they allowed for the "conscience clause"...luckily, mine has steps in place to provide the prescription regardless.

Here's a link to a list, from Planned Parenthood, of pharmacies and whether or not they will fill your prescriptions.

2. Vote with your $$$$ - CVS and others say your prescription MUST be filled
From a thread in the Women's Rights forum:

I just posted this in GD, but it seemed a good idea to post it here too.

Let's all go to CVS! Yay!

-----

Planned Parenthood For America has been urging major pharmacies to dispense legal medication, not moral grandstanding.

The latest PPFA update contains CVS's letter to Karen Pearl, PPFA's interim President. (Its a pdf file; seems I can't copy and paste)

One quote is this: "CVS dispenses all lawfull medications. In particular, CVS pharmacies fill prescriptions for all lawful, valid birth control medications, including emergency contraceptives."

Here's the link to the pdf

Here's PPFA's "Fill My Pills Now" Campaign site and action opportunities. CVS's link is there (click "How Did My Pharmacy Score", then "CVS gets PPFA Thumbs Up")http://www.saveroe.com/fillmypillsnow/scored.php
