Planned Parenthood of the Heartland said Thursday it will open a new health care facility in Omaha that will include abortion services.

The clinic at 3105 N. 93rd St. will be open by the end of this year, officials said.

Neither of Omaha’s existing Planned Parenthood locations provides abortion services. One of them will be merged with the new clinic, said a spokeswoman.

It has not been decided whether the new Omaha facility will perform surgical abortions, said Susan Allen, a spokeswoman for the Heartland affiliate, which has health centers and clinics in eastern Nebraska and western Iowa.

The new facility also will provide cancer screenings, annual exams, birth control and adoption referrals.

“Expanding access to health care is of critical importance in our society at this time,” Jill June, president and CEO of the group, said in a statement.

4. I'm all for more places offering abortion.

Lots of women don't have access to an abortion clinic.

I am not all "YAY ABORTION!!" but I know there is a need for them and it sucks there are women out there who brought a fetus to term when they really didn't want to.
