Bishop Gene Robinson's comments:
"
I think if the Barack Obama team had put out a full schedule of all those being invited to participate in this week of inaugural activities everyone would have seen that he's really creating the big tent that he's promised us and that full spectrum of view points will be on view here in Washington and it's been my honor to be part of it.
You know, I think we will find Barack Obama to be very supportive of our issues and he comes into this office with a real sensitivity to GLBT people and our lives. I think one of the first things well see is him working to overturn DOMA, I think we'll see him work for a fully inclusive employment non-discrimination act and certainly I think he'll move to end Don't Ask, Don't Tell.
I think in all of these things we have to remember that he has very pressing issues facing him around the economy and the two wars that are currently raging at the moment and so I think that all of us, no matter what our issues are, we will have to be somewhat patient while the administration gets to some of these other issues.
If there is one thing about the Barack Obama administration it is that they mean for this to be a big tent, of course, I'm very supportive of that because no one had a bigger tent than Jesus I think that is the way to move all of us forward and I think we've seen from his choice of those people to be in an upfront role we see the full spectrum of America whether it be racially or age wise or indeed religiously and
I think this shows that Barack Obama is doing exactly what he told us he would do and and that he is a man of his word and the kind of presidency he describe that he would give us is exactly what we're getting."
