| Will there be "trouble" if/when CSSC upholds Prop H8? |

which is why we are working to bring it to another intiative.
it's an awful way to do business -- but it's what we have here in cali.

Sorry to hear that. I have not been following it closely, but was of course hoping for it to be overturned. Right-wing justices, stupid precedents they are expected to cite, or what?

a hot potato, since that's the nature of their job. If this were a swiftly resolvable issue it would already have been resolved at a level far lower than it's gotten.
A former California resident, I hope the Court strikes down Prop 8 and that life as Californians know it yesterday and today can go on tomorrow except with marriage and its attendant privileges extended to all.
If the voters' bigotry is upheld and a candlelight vigil ensues, I would surely want to express solidarity with the women and men who comprise it.

Apparently places that expect to be attacked (his words not mine) are planning to have counter demonstrators/defenders. If things get out of hand, I fully expect to see bloodshed.

|
If Prop 8 is upheld do not plan to drive in any large city in the state for a bit. I expect there to be massive sit ins on major intersections and freeway entrances. I fully expect to see national Civil Rights leaders get arrested on the national news.
I do not expect to see blood shed and hope not. The GLBT community in CA (at least here in San Diego) has been very pro-active at educating the community as to what is an appropriate way to react.
I expect to see people here claim out actions are hurting our cause.

The proposition that will over ride Prop 8 will win and it may have coat tails in other areas. I see it as much as an opportunity as anything else.

http://www.soulforce.org/wp/http://www.dayofdecision.com/http://perpetuaofcarthage.blogspot.com/2009/03/training-for-anti-prop-8-civil.html---- also remember its not just GLBT persons that will lose if prop 8 is upheld - there will be a massive groundswell of anger from all segments of society.

| 11. It won't really matter. If its upheld the solution is at the polls not the street. |
|
Some will be concerned that excessive or violent demonstration will cause a backlash, but I doubt it. There are not that many people who have not already made their minds up. I don't see a massive groundswell of anger from people not impacted directly and they have already been in the streets.
My only concern is that those whose property was burned and damaged last time will decide to fight back. Deadly force is a legal defense against arson. A crowd with Molotov cocktails could end up being shot at by civilians. Then we might see some sort of meltdown. Spoke to an active LDS member about this today. He said their position will be like it was last time...retreat and let the mobs burn the buildings. Like I said earlier my fundie neighbor's group may not turn the other cheek.
We shall see when the decision is announced...before hand its just speculation.

Any idiot knows that we cannot address civil rights issues until all wars have ended, the economy has completely recovered, famine has been abolished, cheap nuclear fusion has solved the world's energy problems.... :eyes:
