McDonald's Sued For HIV Discrimination

A trial began Monday pitting a Akron, Ohio man who says he was fired by McDonald's because he has HIV against the giant fast food chain.

Russell Rich (pictured) alleges in the suit that he was forced to quit his job as a manager in 1997 when the company learned he was HIV-positive.

Rich, 41, of Akron, won a $5 million verdict in his discrimination case against the burger chain in 2001. But the verdict was overturned after an appeals court ruled that McDonald's did not receive a fair trial. The court ordered that a new trial be held.
